The pool and outside toys
The pool (12 metres by 6 metres) is set about 20 metres away from the house and is fenced for safety. There is no heating (apart from the sun) though a bubble cover put on at night helps conserve warmth (water temperatures in June, July and August should be in the upper 20 degrees centigrade). The depth of the pool varies between approximately 1.04 m at the shallow end (where there are Roman steps) and 1.72 m at the deepest point. There are loungers, chairs and a table by the pool with a small shelter and planted bamboo area for shade.
There is a range of somewhat battered toys for young children, plus boules, badminton racquets (a net can be strung across the boules area) and an outside table tennis table.
